Put Your Best Foot Forward
What happens when Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller and Jerome Bocuse get together? They join forces to recruit the next team that will represent the United States at the Bocuse d’Or World Cuisine Competition in Lyon - the Olympics of the Culinary world - that the US has yet to win.
These three men have a goal and that is to recruit and train the best US team ever for the 2009 competition.
Currently they are looking for candidates to compete and are sending out applications to some of the top restaurateurs, chefs and educators to encourage the best young chefs to apply. Based on their written applications, 8 teams will be selected to compete in a preliminary competition at the end of September in Orlando. These teams will be judged by some of the tops chefs in the country as they prepare one fish dish and one meat dish. They will be evaluated on technique, flavor, use of ingredients, creativity and presentation. They will also be judged on their cleanliness in the kitchen and how well they work as a team.
Based on their overall performance, the top team will be selected to compete in the competition in Lyon in January of 2009. The competition held biennially draws over 500 gourmet exhibitors and 50,000 visitors making it the world’s most prestigious culinary events.
Applications for this competition are due on June 30, 2008.
